WIND STORM OF JUNE 2022

Saturday 11 June - Sunday 12 June

From the late afternoon of Sat 11 June until mid-morning Sun 12 June 2022 the Sheffield area experienced a severe weather event. Very strong and sustained winds (with unprecedented recorded gusts approaching 200 km/hr) caused devastation. A human life was lost. Hundreds, perhaps thousands of trees - particularly mature Eucalypts - were uprooted. In all likelihood, many animals were killed or lost their homes. Landscapes were transformed, leaving bare dirt for weeds to subsequently flourish.
